Saturday Report (4.25.09):
Team Enterprise Automation/Malcolm-Racing finish 3rd in class, Performance Touring - PTD, on Saturday at the April
NASA event at Buttonwillow Raceway Park, in Buttonwillow, CA. In qualifying, driver Derrick Malcolm turned in a lap of
2:09.3 which qualified the team 3rd in class. As the green flag fell on the race, Malcolm got a great jump on the start.
This put the team in reach of the class leaders. Malcolm posted a fast lap of 2:08.8, but this was not enough to keep
pace with the class leader or 2nd place. The team had a comfortable gap for third place and maneuvered through lapped
traffic the rest of the race, with 2nd place within view, but not reach.
Sunday Report (4.26.09):
Team Enterprise Automation/Malcolm-Racing finish 3rd in class, Performance Touring - PTD, on Sunday at the April
NASA event at Buttonwillow Raceway Park, in Buttonwillow, CA. In qualifying, driver Derrick Malcolm turned in a lap of
2:09.9 which qualified the team 4th in class. Malcolm indicated after qualifying that the car was not handling well.
The team then worked on the Sentra's alignment before the race. At the start of the race, Malcolm quickly got into 3rd
place in class. When Malcolm made a small mistake on 'magic mountain' a PTD Ford Focus and a PTE car took advantage
by passing the team for position heading down toward the 'sweeper.' Malcolm was able to grab back both position, taking
the PTE car at the end of the main straight and by pulling along side the PTD Focus in the 'buttonhook' and holding him
off through 'cotton corners.' Malcolm posted a fast lap in the race of 2:08, and the car was handling better than in
qualifying.
